Chickens & Cows

Mother & Daughter

Chick chick chick chick chicken, lay a little egg for me!

This is Orla, ready for her walk.

Yesterday I had lunch with Ione, Jonathan, Orla, Ed (Ione's brother) and Anushka (Ed's girlfriend) in the new McMahon house in Essex. It was so lovely to see everyone and especially Orla who is the most adorable little girl. Orla is always very shy when she first sees me but she soon loses her inhabitions and is extremely chatty and smiley.

We had a delicious lunch (cooked in the Aga no less) and then went for a walk to see the cows which Orla loved.

Ione and Jonathan were living in quite a small flat in central London so they hardly know what to do with all the space in their new house. The house is set amongst rolling fields and there is hardly another house in sight. It is the most perfect place to raise Orla and her sister, who is due in 4 weeks! They have 4 chickens (who haven't yet laid any eggs yet, but any minute now!) and are busy planting a vegetable garden. It seemed liked the rural idyll to me...coming home to our small London flat last night I wondered long it will be before we join the McMahons...
