Ancient Athens

We had a lovely, hot weekend in Athens. We stayed in a hotel on the coast and ventured into the centre of the city on Saturday for some sightseeing. Here are some photos.
Athens spread out before us

The Temple of Olympian Zeus (what's left of it) with the Acropolis in the distance. Even though the temple is a ruin, it is really very impressive. We were dwarfed by the columns.

The Acropolis peeking out from above the wall

You can just see the original Olympic stadium on the left and Zeus' temple in the middle
The view from our restaurant at lunch - can you see the Acropolis in the distance?
